The Lung Run is an annual event in conjunction with the British Lung Foundation when people across the country can raise funds for lung disease.
Grateful thanks to Mike ‘The Mouth’ Elliott who officially started the run through Jesmond Dene in Newcastle.
Hundreds of runners including scores of family and friends who have lost to mesothelioma took part. A team of 28 runners from Thompsons Solicitors raised a total of £1,200. Others runners from Irwin Mitchell and Browell Smith joined in the event. Harry Maddocks and Brandon Thorpe was joint winners of the 2.5k run and Harry Nichol a very close second. First in the 5k race was Andy Brown and Martyn Simpson came second.
Membership to the Pintetrees Health Club was the prize for raising the most sponsorship and was awarded to Michelle Jones who ran in memory of her dad, Dennis Newman.Thank you to Pinetree Health Club who did the warm up and got everyone ready to take part. This year’s Lung Run raised a magnificent £5,857 .90, the proceeds of which will go toward shelping fund important research programmes into mesothelioma.
The Lung Run is a great family day out and is a real incentive to set you a challenge for a good cause. Look out for next year’s event!!
