The Shields Gazette held its 8th annual fashion show at the Customs House. The Gazette is supporting the Mick Knighton Mesothelioma Research Fund and Cancer Connections. One of the lovely young models will be awarded the “Face of 2008” award and the first step onto the modelling ladder. Members of the Self – Help /Friendship Group were invited to take part and “model” dresses from Debenhams.
Mesothelioma affects the extended family by loosing not only husbands or wives but fathers, brothers and granddads. So Kaysha O’Neill, Laura Tiffen, Kate and Jane Newman, Scilla Thomson, Anne Craig and Chris Knighton although nervous were happy to go along.
Deputy Mayor of South Tyneside John Anglin and his wife Christine congratulated the models and pledged to help the work of the Research Fund in the future.
