Bill Higgins
Bill Higgins 1.6.45 – 16.2.09. Wonderful husband, dad, granddad, missed each and every day by family and friends xx
Bill was born in Margate in 1945 and was a kind, caring, generous, hard working, old school gentlemen. Loved by all his family and friends whose world fell apart when he passed in February 2010 aged only 64.
His daughter Lorraine organised a garden party in her dad’s memory for the MKMRF. Guests were asked for a £10 entry donation which gave them entry to a champagne draw and a charity badge.

Lorraine also contacted local companies for raffle donations and the response was overwhelming – laptop, TV, ferry crossings, lunch on cruise ships, mobile phones, wine, whisky, champagne, retail vouchers, restaurant vouchers, beauty vouchers, hampers, beauty products, scalextrix, polly pockets, golf days, golfing t shirts, mot voucher, pet portrait, gym passes, plus many many more via family and friend. All raffle tickets were sold at £10 per strip.

The weather proved challenging as rain, wind and thunder meant Plan B – Gazebos! So their garden was transformed into a party marquee which actually worked in their favour as it made the event much more personal.

The rain cleared, leaving a clear sky with one bright star shining down. Lorraine hired live band “2 bro” and food was provided via local caterers with the help of her friends each bringing a dish.
Guests were asked to bring their own drink and chairs if they wanted, but these remained empty as everyone boogied the night away to the early hours of Sunday morning!!

The evening finished with floating Chinese lanterns being lit in memory of a beloved husband, dad and granddad.

Total monies raised from this event was a staggering £3,400!

Lorraine would like to thank: McCarthy and Stone Retirement Lifestyles Ltd; All about Asbestos and Down Insulation. Along with the many kind and generous companies who supported the event.
Thanks also to everyone who helped to make the event possible and those who came along on the day and joined in the fun!
September 2010 Total £3,420.00
