Bill Rawlinson

Bill Rawlinson, sadly died from mesothelioma in October 2007,  leaving the family in shock and disbelief  and struggling to accept the tragic loss.

His wife Sandra, along with son and daughter, Clare and Paul set up a Snowdrop Memorial Fund in his memory.

In 2009 Clare and Paul took part in a sponsored Skydive at Cark Airfield, Flookburgh, Grange over Sands. Clare undertook a tandem dive freefalling 14,500ft harnessed to her instructor.

Paul’s static line dive meant he had to fly and steer the parachute to the landing area with the support of a radio attached to his helmet. At 3,500 – 4,500 ft his parachute automatically deployed as he fell away from the aircraft using a static line which he says was a great hands on alternative to a tandem dive!!

After the event, a Disco was held at the Royal British Legion in Grange over Sands and raised an amazing total of £1,051.40 in their father’s memory. I’m sure he would have been extremley proud of them both.
