Chris was first diagnosed with mesothelioma in March 2010 aged 64. The family’s  whole world was shattered by this news.We had never heard of mesothelioma before and discovered to our horror that it was an aggressive, incurable lung cancer that was caused by exposure to asbestos.

Chris had dedicated his life from a young age to working as an electrician in schools, churches and various buildings without being aware of the danger he faced being exposed to this deadly substance.

Chris endured months of operations and relentless chemotherapy but not once did he complain or ask why me?  His strength of character was remarkable during this difficult time. Chris was an extremely brave and courageous man who never gave up in his fight and despite everything always had a smile and a kind word to say.

Sadly after a long and hard battle Chris lost his fight against Mesothelioma in March 2011 and passed away with his family by his side. Chris was dearly loved by his wife, 3 daughters and four grandchildren and will be sorely missed by all who had the honour of knowing this wonderful and kind man. He will never be forgotton and is always in our hearts.

Please donate in memory of Chris’s Memorial Fund  via  the Mick Knighton Mesothelioma Research Fund which aims to raise awareness and fund crucial research into the diagnosis, treatment and care for mesothelioma sufferers.
